2011 Japanese Embroidery Nuido World Exhibtion - Adelaide Festival Centre, Australia (August 31 - October 16)

The Adelaide Festival Centre's OzAsia Festival was established in 2007 and its held annually around September/October.

The OzAsia Festival presents work with an Asian theme by Australian and international artists; stages collaborative work between Australian and Asian artists; and presents a cross section of traditional and contemporary cultures of Asia.

Over the years, the Festival has gained recognition and popularity. It is now a much anticipated annual event which attracts thousnds of local, national and international visitors to the different activities on offer from both Australian and international artists.

It had primary focus on Japan and the NUIDO World exhibtion is one of the main highlights of the Festival.

The exhibition was kickstarted the OzAsia Festival events on 1 September 2011 with an opening that was officiated by the Consul of General of Japan and local dignitaries from South Australia.

This year, over 30,000 people participated the OzAsia Festival and over 4000 people visited the Nuido World Exhibition.

The Exhibition has provided a visual feast to visitors, some of whom will be introduced to Japanese embroidery for the very first time. In addition to the Fractal project, on display were at least 10 kimonos, 35 obis, Konbuin Fukusa, the Hoitsu scrolls and numerous items stitched by the professionals and JEC members worldwide.
