Held multiple times annually (in conjunction with All Phases Class), New Students Class (Phase I) is targeted at those with no experience at Japanese Embroidery. Simple techniques, such as how to hold a needle, assemble a frame, how to stitch, etc., introduce the novice to basic embroidery concepts.

"Bouquet from the Heart of Japan" (below), one of several designs offered, is our most thorough journey through Phase I technique. Most of our beginning students opt to stitch this design.
