Advanced Class at JEC - March 5-8

Our annual Advanced Class is coming up in March! Advanced class is designed so that the Phase X graduate who wishes to stitch challenging designs will receive instruction from Shuji and Masa Tamura in a workshop environment rather than the one-way classroom setting. Please contact us for application form. We hope you will take this opportunity to improve your skills.

Conception

This special design was introduced on the cover of Summer 2007 issue of Nuido™ Journal.The full-blossomed lily flower represents the Holy Mother, and the new "flower" flows out from the original flower. The bonds between mother and child often are broken within the world we live in now. It is our wish that two thousand years of living prayer revive those bonds for today.

The original piece (at left) was designed and stitched on double-width fabric, which creates difficulty stitching the middle part as you need to stretch your arms. Therefore, the design was modified to fit standard fabric width (13 inches). The design now expresses more of the original wish of pushing the child lily all the way  up to the sky (see line drawing above). Let's work together to stitch this challenging new design!
